155 Glendeer Circle Southeast suite lm3, Calgary, AB, T2H 2S8The Kia Carnival is undergoing a complete transformation for 2025, but that much we already knew. However, the Korean manufacturer took advantage of the Toronto International Auto Show to announce a scoop regarding its minivan. This latest iteration will up its game with the addition of a hybrid version.
This new variant will allow the Korean minivan to compete in the territory occupied by the Toyota Sienna and the Chrysler Pacifica, both available in hybrid versions.
Unsurprisingly, Kia has opted for a mechanical combination already found in several other models of the brand to equip its hybrid Carnival. It consists of a 1.6-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor. The power of this combination amounts to 242 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque. It's all mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission, making the experience quite enjoyable.
As for the regular version, there are no changes on the mechanical front. It will still offer the classic 3.5-liter V6 engine producing 290 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque.
The Kia Carnival is getting a facelift for its fourth year of production with a slight aesthetic redesign. The Korean manufacturer's minivan now features a more imposing front end and more assertive lines. The exterior lighting has also been modernized. As always, the Korean manufacturer's minivan closely resembles an SUV, which is one of the many reasons why it appeals to so many people.
The interior also benefits from a rejuvenation with a more streamlined dashboard. It's worth noting that the Kia Carnival offers captain's seats that can recline in the second row in certain versions.
The new hybrid version of the Kia Carnival is expected to arrive in dealerships later this summer. The pricing range for the model should be unveiled in the coming months.
